Accreditation & Medicare Certification

Many of the Surgery Centers SOSI has helped develop have chosen to partake in a voluntary accrediation process conducted by their peers. Depending on the specialty, this process can also be known as a “third party survey” and can be mandarory in some states or with some payers. There are three accrediting bodies that your center may choose to seek accredition from including: Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF) or Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). ASC centers who meet the accredation standards must comply with with the on-site inspections and will be evaluated to insure they have met the requirements expected. The accrediting bodies also have deemed status by CMS to survey for Medicare Certification. Proof of the State License or exemption letter will be required before the survey can be scheduled for the Medicare Certification. This can be accomplished thruan Accrediting Body which will not announce an exact date, however will typically offer a 1-3 month window for the survey to be performed.
